The food and beverage industry is constantly evolving. The pandemic, which began in 2020, resulted in incredible challenges - particularly associated with supply chain, delivery and logistics. Lockdowns resulted in dining restrictions, which forced consumers to prepare food at home, often with basic staples which had a long shelf life and were easy to store. The period also witnessed proactive grocery stores transforming into e-commerce for online ordering. As the pandemic took hold, food and beverage manufacturers re-examined their supply chains and business models and adopted new technologies to make themselves more resilient and agile going forward. Furthermore, consumers adopted lifestyle changes that prioritized health, sustainability, plant-based foods, localization, convenience, premiumization, and traceability.
